BACKBONE celebrated its world premiere at the international IKT Security Conference in Vienna. The conference about cyber security gathered around 1800 people. During the exhibition the European Cyber Security Challenge took place and was hosted at the same venue. A lot of people showed great interest in the BACKBONE tablet and came to the BACKBONE booth.

The BACKBONE Keynote

CEO Philipp Lechner, CTO Gerald Zach and Wolfgang Hacker from the BMLV gave the keynote on the BACKBONE tablet and its technical details. Wolfgang Hacker introduced the research project which has a 10 year history and emphasised that the BACKBONE tablet is very much needed in the military field. After the short introduction CEO Philipp Lechner explained the main facts about BACKBONE. Click here to see all the facts & features about the ultra cyber-secure tablet.

As a single user device for multiple security domains the tablet unifies multiple devices in one. With multiple boot devices the data will be stored on them and can be physically cut off from main device. This way the data is safe and not hackable. The main part of the keynote was presented by CTO Gerald Zach. He explained to the audience the possibilities of BACKBONE on a technical level and gave insights into the newly built system architecture.

The BACKBONE booth

The BACKBONE booth was one of the most visited ones at the exhibition. The team tried the very best to explain the BACKBONE tablet to our guests and answer all questions. At the booth visitors could take a look at the tablet and try the handling of it for the first time ever in BACKBONE’s history. Two-way portable radios were plugged into BACKBONE to showcase the versatile usability of the tablet.

One of the main attractions were the BACKBONE models and when they set one BACKBONE underwater to show the ruggedness of the tablet. After the successful keynote, the booth was visited by Austrian Federal Defence Minister Klaudia Tanner and later on by Austrian Federal State Secretary Florian Tursky.

We, the BACKBONE team, want to thank everybody for the interest in the BACKBONE tablet and for being part of this amazing starting point. We are looking forward to future meetings and collaborations. We hope to see you next year at the IKT security conference in Linz!
